Launch and Training of Clean Fleet Management Toolkit by the Partnership for Clean Fuels and Vehicles (PCFV) - UNEP

Organizers:
Partnership for Clean Fuels and Vehicles (PCFV), United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and Clean Air Initiative for Asian Cities (CAI-Asia) Center

About the Pre-Event:
The Partnership for Clean Fuels and Vehicles (PCFV) and UNEP will be launching its "Clean Fleet Management Toolkit” in Asia at this BAQ 2008 pre-event.

This Toolkit contains a number of tools that help organizations develop a strategy for reducing the environmental and health impacts of their vehicle fleet and with minimal information and inputs, develop practical strategies and scenarios for corrective and cost-effective action.

The toolkit is a step-by-step system for beginners and experienced users and managers comprising of five steps (http://www.unep.org/tnt-unep/toolkit/);
•    Awareness: Introducing the issues on environment and transport
•    Impact: Estimating your fleet’s impacts on environment and health
•    Actions: Identifying the options available to reduce environment and health impacts
•    Strategy: Developing a strategy by choosing selected actions and setting targets
•    Monitoring: Keeping track of the effects of your strategy and improvements

During the pre-event, Fleet Managers/Operators and the CAI-Asia Country Network Coordinators will undergo hands-on training on clean fleet strategy development. This will enable them, when they return to their countries, to use the toolkit to reduce the environmental and health impacts of emissions from their organization’s vehicles.
