Qingdao's Efforts on AQM During the Beijing Olympics

Abstract:

As the Olympic Sailing Competition City of the Beijing 2008 Olympic, Qingdao holds a landmark games for sailing and turns on a new leaf in the history for the world. International community praise Qingdao for its outstanding efforts in preparation for the events.

For the Olympics, Qingdao city firmly holds the great historic opportunity of preparing for the events, considering environment quality as an important and necessary condition for the successful events. The environment quality is mainly including two parts: ambient air quality and quality of coastal sea area near the regatta. The city takes a step further toward well environment quality and gains excellent effects by making great efforts and taking multiform measures since 2006. In 2008, ambient air quality reaches the best level of the twenty years, which not only provides a good environment condition for the games but also adds the city’s charms. Successful hold of the green Olympics and several first-class environment protection technologies using in the building of Olympics Sailing Center which are Olympics lasting legacy have active effects on the development of Qingdao city’s environment protection career.
