New Materials as Way to Obtain of Effective Non Additive Diesel Continuously Regeneration Trap – CRT

Abstract:

The effective method of PM reduction from CI engines is the CRT (Continuously Regenerating Trap). The CRT filter is capable of converting greater than 90% of particulate materials, hydrocarbons and CO to water and CO2. NOx reductions are typically up to 10%. These improvements significantly reduce the tailpipe emissions from heavy vehicles. Over 35,000 CRT filters have been fitted on most major heavy duty diesel (HDD) engines in Europe, the US and Japan. It is the most widely used filter system for HDD engines and there are literally hundreds of millions of miles of service and durability on CRT filters. It is shows that very important is develop of methods of regeneration with non additives.
This paper describes the preparation and the properties of 3-way catalytic reaction where:
- high porosity ceramic filter Ti4O7 impregnated by a BaO is used as a trap for NOx;
- catalytic support based on Ti4O7 with PdAgAu is used in the oxidation of C and HC,
- catalytic support based on Ti4O7 with Pt3Ni and Pt3Co (FSP – Flame Spray Pyrolysis technique) is used in the PM oxidation.
